Dying for Life: St. Paul, Romans and Lucretius

Possible topics for commentary: discuss what are the implications of Paul and Lucretius’s visions of the future –the horizons of their visions and imaginations– for living in the present; discuss the notion of christian love and compare with Plato’s Eros in Symposium; How does radical materialism (and atheism) of Lucretius lead to a being a being that cares in this world?   Discuss the possible meanings of immortality addressed in class. Or any other topic of your choice.
